Christmas at Disneyland Resort is one of the most magical ways to celebrate the holiday season. Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure are transformed with sparkling lights, enormous Christmas trees, festive entertainment, seasonal attraction overlays and holiday food inspired by traditions from around the world.
Even better, Disneyland does not require a separate Christmas party ticket. Most holiday decorations, attraction overlays and entertainment are included with regular theme-park admission.
Holidays at the Disneyland Resort officially runs from November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027. This guide covers everything coming to Disneyland Christmas 2026, including decorations, entertainment, rides, food, hotels and practical planning tips.

Disneyland Christmas 2026 Dates
The official holiday celebration begins November 13, 2026, and continues through January 6, 2027. Most of the major decorations, entertainment and seasonal food offerings are available throughout this period, although schedules and individual experiences can change.
Disneyland requires both valid theme-park admission and a park reservation for the same park on the same date. Make your park reservations as soon as you know your plans, particularly if you are visiting close to Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s.
Do You Need a Separate Ticket for Disneyland Christmas?
Unlike Walt Disney World’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Disneyland does not have a separate-ticket Christmas party.
Most Disneyland Christmas decorations, attraction overlays, parades, fireworks and seasonal entertainment are included with regular theme-park admission. This means you can experience the resort’s major holiday offerings without purchasing an additional party ticket.
You will still need a valid Disneyland ticket and a theme-park reservation for the same park and date. Certain optional experiences cost extra, including the Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort Guided Tour, select dining packages and the World of Color dessert party.
This makes Disneyland Christmas different from Walt Disney World, where Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party requires a separate event ticket on select nights.
Christmas at Disneyland Park
Disneyland Park delivers the classic storybook Christmas experience. Main Street, U.S.A. is decorated with garlands, wreaths and an iconic 60-foot Christmas tree, while Sleeping Beauty Castle becomes Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle.
At night, approximately 80,000 shimmering lights make the castle look covered in snow and ice. Even if you visit during the day, plan to remain in the park after sunset so you can see Main Street, the castle and “it’s a small world” illuminated.
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and several friends will appear in new holiday attire inspired by winter travel and an alpine gathering. Their seasonal outfits are one more reason to leave time for character photos.
“A Christmas Fantasy Parade”
“A Christmas Fantasy Parade” is one of Disneyland’s signature holiday traditions. The procession features reindeer, toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies, Disney characters and a Santa Claus finale.
Check the Disneyland app for performance times on the day of your visit. Find a viewing location early if the parade is one of your highest priorities.
You can also consider the Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort Guided Tour. This separately priced tour is expected to include stories about Disneyland’s holiday traditions, information about Walt Disney and his family, and reserved viewing for “A Christmas Fantasy Parade.” Confirm current tour details and availability before your visit.
“Believe…In Holiday Magic” Fireworks
“Believe…In Holiday Magic” returns with fireworks, seasonal music and a magical snowfall finale.
Guests can experience the snowfall near Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle, “it’s a small world” Holiday, the Rivers of America and portions of Main Street, U.S.A.
Fireworks can be affected by weather and wind. If the show is important to you and you have multiple Disneyland nights, try to see it early in your trip instead of saving it for your final evening.
Disneyland Christmas Ride Overlays
Disneyland’s seasonal attraction overlays are some of the biggest reasons to visit during the holidays.
“it’s a small world” Holiday
“it’s a small world” is transformed with holiday decorations and seasonal music. The illuminated façade features approximately 400,000 lights, festive landscaping and an adorable Santa hat on the clock face.
This attraction is especially beautiful after dark. Consider riding during daylight when the wait may be shorter, then return later to photograph the illuminated exterior.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
Haunted Mansion Holiday combines the classic attraction with Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
In 2026, the attraction celebrates 25 years of elaborate seasonal gingerbread creations. This year’s ballroom gingerbread display takes the form of a monstrous music box.
Haunted Mansion Holiday begins during Disneyland’s Halloween season and continues through the holidays, making it one of the resort’s most popular seasonal attractions.
Santa Claus at Disneyland
Santa will greet guests at a new Disneyland Park location in 2026: the Trolley Barn in Mickey’s Toontown near Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin.
Bluey and Bingo will also continue appearing during “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” at the Fantasyland Theatre.
Santa is scheduled to appear at Disney California Adventure and all three Disneyland Resort hotels at select times as well. Check the Disneyland app and individual resort schedules for current hours and locations.
Christmas at Disney California Adventure
Disney California Adventure offers a more varied holiday experience with colorful decorations, cultural celebrations, live entertainment and seasonal food marketplaces.
While Disneyland Park provides a traditional storybook Christmas, Disney California Adventure celebrates several different holiday traditions through Disney Festival of Holidays.
World of Color – Season of Light
“World of Color – Season of Light” returns November 13, 2026.
The nighttime spectacular combines fountains, lights, music and scenes from films including Beauty and the Beast and Inside Out.
A separately priced World of Color dessert party is expected to be offered for select performances. This experience can provide reserved seating and holiday desserts, but availability, prices and booking information should be confirmed directly with Disneyland.
Cars Land at Christmas
Cars Land receives some of the most creative Christmas decorations at the entire resort. Automotive parts are transformed into wreaths, bows, Christmas trees and playful displays that feel completely at home in Radiator Springs.
Arrive around sunset to see the land’s lights come to life during the daily “Sh-boom” moment.
Two Cars Land attractions also receive holiday overlays:
-
Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl
-
Mater’s Jingle Jamboree
Cars Land is worth seeing during both the day and evening because the atmosphere changes dramatically after dark.
Disney Festival of Holidays 2026
Disney Festival of Holidays returns to Disney California Adventure with food, music and entertainment inspired by Christmas, Navidad, Hanukkah, Diwali, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day.
The 2026 festival includes six food marketplaces offering new dishes and returning favorites.
Guests can purchase a Sip and Savor Pass containing six digital coupons that can be redeemed for select food and nonalcoholic beverages at participating marketplaces and dining locations.
Before buying a pass, review the current menus and decide which eligible items you want to try. The pass offers the best value when you use every coupon on qualifying items that would otherwise cost more individually.
Holiday Entertainment at Disney California Adventure
Festival entertainment scheduled for 2026 includes:
-
Mickey’s Happy Holidays, featuring Mickey and friends dancing with the Holiday Toy Drummers
-
Rotating live bands and cultural performance groups at Paradise Garden Bandstand
-
A Musical Christmas with Mariachi Alegría de Disneyland & Miguel! on select days
-
Mirabel’s Gifts of the Season on select days
-
Holiday Toy Drummers in Paradise Gardens Park
The exact performance schedule can vary by day, so consult the Disneyland app after entering the park.
Disney ¡Viva Navidad!
Disney ¡Viva Navidad! celebrates holiday traditions from across Latin America through music, dance and storytelling.
On select days, the Disney ¡Viva Navidad! Street Party features the Three Caballeros, folklórico dancers, mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers, drummers, Mickey and Minnie.
Guests may also encounter Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the Three Caballeros wearing special holiday attire around Paradise Gardens Park.
This celebration is one of the experiences that distinguishes Disneyland’s holiday season from Christmas at Walt Disney World.
Disneyland Christmas Food
Seasonal snacks and drinks are a major part of Christmas at Disneyland.
Confirmed returning favorites for 2026 include:
-
Mickey Elf Shake at Schmoozies! in Disney California Adventure
-
Milk and Cookies Tree-Shaped Macaron at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland Park
Disney will release its complete holiday Foodie Guides closer to the beginning of the season. Check the Disneyland app for current menus, prices and mobile-order availability.
For an upgraded experience, watch for booking details for the “A Christmas Fantasy Parade” dining package at Plaza Inn and the “World of Color – Season of Light” Dessert Party.
Disneyland Resort Hotels at Christmas
You do not have to limit your Christmas sightseeing to the parks. Disneyland Hotel, Pixar Place Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will feature holiday decorations, special displays, seasonal entertainment and visits from Santa.
The lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian will feature a seven-foot gingerbread display inspired by the hotel’s Arts and Crafts architecture and decorated with whimsical Disney details.
Holiday character dining runs from November 16, 2026, through January 3, 2027.
Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates the Holidays!
This seasonal character dining experience takes place at Disneyland Hotel and features Goofy and friends in festive attire.
Daisy’s Holiday Pajama Party
Daisy’s Holiday Pajama Party will be offered at Storytellers Cafe inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast
Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast will also take place at Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian.
Reservations, menus and final details will be released through Disneyland. These seasonal meals may be popular, so reserve early once booking becomes available.

Disneyland’s 2026 Holiday Hotel Offer
A 2026 hotel offer is scheduled to become available for booking beginning September 22.
Eligible reservations can save up to 20% on select stays of three consecutive nights or longer at:
-
Disneyland Hotel
-
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
-
Pixar Place Hotel
-
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel
The offer applies to select stays from October 11 through December 18, 2026, subject to availability, room eligibility and Disney’s restrictions.
Compare the final Disney price with nearby hotels before booking. Staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel provides convenience, but several off-property hotels are also within walking distance of the parks.
Christmas at Downtown Disney
Beginning November 13, Downtown Disney District will feature holiday decorations, seasonal food, live entertainment and nightly snowfall.
Chip and Dale’s Ornament Trail runs from November 11, 2026, through January 6, 2027.
Purchase an activity map from a participating location, search for themed ornaments throughout Downtown Disney and return the completed map to receive a keepsake.
Downtown Disney is a good choice for an arrival day or non-park evening because no theme-park ticket is required.
2026 Holiday Merchandise
Seasonal collections include Mickey Mouse and Family Christmas, Holiday Pastel and Disney Vintage Holiday merchandise.
The 2026 novelty lineup also includes a Mickey Train light-up bucket and Holiday Stitch Christmas Tree sipper.
Popular holiday items can sell quickly. If there is something you truly want, shop earlier in your trip instead of waiting until the final day.
What to Wear to Disneyland at Christmas
Southern California weather can change considerably between the afternoon and evening. Dress in layers rather than assuming the entire day will feel warm.
A practical Disneyland Christmas outfit includes:
-
A comfortable holiday shirt or lightweight top
-
A sweater or sweatshirt
-
A packable jacket for nighttime
-
Comfortable walking shoes
-
A compact rain layer or poncho
-
A small crossbody bag or backpack
Bring a portable charger, refillable water bottle and blister protection. A festive outfit is fun, but comfort matters when you are walking and standing for a full park day.

How Many Days Do You Need for Disneyland at Christmas?
For most first-time holiday visitors, I recommend at least three park days:
-
One full day at Disneyland Park
-
One full day at Disney California Adventure
-
A third day to revisit your favorite attractions and holiday experiences
Disneyland Resort is compact, but the holiday entertainment, attraction overlays, characters and Festival of Holidays add more to each day.
A Park Hopper ticket provides extra flexibility, although you can still experience the holiday season with one park per day if you plan carefully.
My Best Disneyland Christmas Tips
-
Reserve your parks early. A valid ticket alone does not guarantee entry without the corresponding park reservation.
-
See both parks after dark. The lights are a major part of the holiday experience.
-
Prioritize seasonal entertainment. Do not spend the entire trip riding attractions available throughout the year.
-
Visit Cars Land near sunset. You can see the decorations in daylight and then watch the lights turn on.
-
Try holiday food selectively. Review the menus before buying a Sip and Savor Pass.
-
Schedule fireworks early in your trip. Weather can cause cancellations.
-
Visit the Disneyland hotels. Their decorations, seasonal meals and gingerbread display extend the experience beyond the parks.
-
Pack layers. Anaheim afternoons and evenings can feel very different.
-
Leave time for Downtown Disney. Its decorations, food and Ornament Trail do not require park admission.
-
Check the Disneyland app daily. Entertainment times, character appearances and availability can change.
Is Disneyland at Christmas Worth It?
Yes—especially if you love classic Christmas decorations, nighttime entertainment and seasonal food.
Disneyland Park offers the nostalgic side of the holidays through Main Street, Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle, “A Christmas Fantasy Parade” and “it’s a small world” Holiday.
Disney California Adventure adds cultural celebrations, Festival of Holidays, World of Color and the imaginative decorations in Cars Land.
The fact that Disneyland does not charge for a separate Christmas party is another advantage. Most of the major holiday entertainment is included with regular admission, allowing you to enjoy it throughout your park day.
The season can be busy, and lodging may be more expensive around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Visiting earlier in the season or on weekdays may make the trip easier, although crowd levels are never guaranteed.
Final Thoughts
Disneyland Christmas combines familiar holiday traditions with experiences you cannot find in quite the same form at Walt Disney World.
Between the castle lights, “it’s a small world” Holiday, Cars Land, World of Color and Disney Festival of Holidays, there is enough seasonal entertainment to fill several days.
Best of all, you do not need to purchase a separate Christmas party ticket to experience the main festivities. Plan your must-do experiences before arriving, but leave room to enjoy the decorations, food and unexpected moments that make Disneyland feel especially magical during Christmas.
